Magnifico!
While listening to a classical guitar concert, the final piece ended and the audience applauded. People were cheering on the soloist with exclamations of, "Bravo!" and, "Encore!" but what inspired this piece was the "Magnifico!" heard from the crowd.
"Magnifico" takes classical guitar voicings and melodic ideas adapted to the trombone choir sound. It presents a possible answer to the question, "What would a guitar sound like if it were played by trombones?"
I think the answer is quite magnificent. Full of vibrant sonorities and exciting interplay between the different parts, along with moments featuring quartets throughout the ensemble, "Magnifico" brings a lively celebration to the stage.
Further, this piece is dedicated to ten years of friendship with Dr. Bradley Palmer, Professor of Trombone at Columbus State University.
