Five and Twenty Fanfare
Five and Twenty Fanfare is composed full of vibrant energy and exuberant fanfares that are perfect for celebration and occasions. It was written for a spectacular trombone teacher at Columbus State University and shimmers with glimpses of excersises, chorales, and solo literature that a college student might frequent in the CSU trombone studio.
The concept of the piece ties in these well-loved trombone motives and also play with the number 25, or Five and Twenty. Much of the work dances through the meter of 5, with 20 beat phrases, and melodic content contains 25 notes in it's series. Further, the climax of the piece at "F" spreads the range of the entire trombone octet, with the lowest bass and highest tenor spaning an interval of a 25th. Maybe you can find some of the other hidden 25's in this score that I have not mentioned here.
